The city of Murmansk – a base for the nuclear fleet and the capital of Murmansk region - land full of historical, cultural and natural attractions.

The city is located in the northwest part of Russia, at subarctic nature region and stands on unfrozen Kola Bay which is ice-free even in winter out of warm flow of Golfstream, goes here from Atlantic Ocean. 
 
Murmansk is the biggest city in the world beyond the Arctic Circle. In back 60’s of XX century from the port of Murmansk began the history of the research of the Arctic region by nuclear icebreakers(special vessels adapted for swimming in severe cold conditions). You'll have oportunity to have excursion to the first real icebreaker "Lenin".
 
During WWII Murmansk was fully destroyed by bombing and then fully reconstructed. Near Murmansk situated The Valley of Death, area of great battlefield for the north. Russian people protected the city of Murmansk and the region behind from Germans till Hitler signed the order to stop operation. Victims were so numerous that up to now its impossible to find and identify all warriors. Even now parts of weapon, bullets and clothes can be easily found around. Despite of tragedic events nature of the Valley is very attractive.
 
Murmansk region shares border with Norway and Finland. Close to Norwegian border you'll see the city of Nikel - live example of industrial Soviet epoch. You'll observe the biggest factory of Russian North for nickel and polymetal extraction. Lunar landscapes around impresses everybody who has seen that just once.

If you come to Murmansk region from Northern Scandinavia you need to cross the border at Lotta border crossing point (Raja-Jooseppi in Finland), Salla border crossing point(Salla in Finland) or Borysoglebsk border crossing point (from Norway near Kirkenes).

in Ivalo or Salla in Finland

- at some another location in Finland or Norway but before you need to coordinate it with us 

- at border crossing points listened above

In case you visit us by your vehicle our guide will also meet you at some location you specify.
